Work on 2 tonnes per cubic metre so if you need 10 m3 you will need 20 tonnes of materials.. Weights do vary but as a basic rule you will not go far wrong..
Excavated material bulks during excavation "Bulking" meaning that its not so compacted so when calculating the volume of the excavated material to be removed allow 10pc for bulking so if you excavate 100m3 the resulting spoil heap will be 10pc bigger say 110m3
When calculating the volume of aggregate needed remember that on average you will, once the stone is compacted, use 2 tonnes of stone for every 1m3 of void. So if you wanted to fill the 100m3 hole excavated above you will need 200 tonnes of stone.
Materials to be disposed of the trucks carry c 16 tonnes or c 8 m3: Due to strict environmental laws materials must be disposed of correctly therefore you can play a part in this by separating the material you excavate This will make the job cleaner, cheaper and more ECO friendly: Inert Materials: Soil Clay : £ 195 .00 per load Reclaimed Materials: Brick , Rubble, Stone : £ 165.00 per load Contaminated Materials: Wood, Tarmac, Plastic, Packaging : £ 120 per load plus £75 per tonne for every tonne carried ****If you mixed these materials together we would have to charge the full load as a contaminated load..
